Drone surveying, explained plainly.
What an orthophoto is, how photogrammetry works, what a thermal drone sees and where the limits are. Short articles with figures from our own flights, so you know what you are ordering.
Anyone ordering a drone survey, a roof inspection or a thermography job is confronted with technical terms: orthophoto, point cloud, terrain model, ground resolution, hotspot. The articles here explain what is behind them, which accuracy is realistic and where a method reaches its limits.
All figures come from our own flights with an RTK drone and ground control points in the Zürich area, not from manufacturer brochures. Where another method fits better, say a terrestrial laser scan or a licensed surveyor, the article says so.
New articles appear in German first. Translations follow once they have been checked technically; until then the overview links to the German version.

Roof inspection by drone instead of scaffolding
When a drone replaces the scaffold for a roof inspection and when it does not: what is visible from the air, where the limits are, what you get in the end.
